Yep you read it right. I got electrocuted.

It was my own fault though. I recently participated with 3 other girlfriends in Tough Mudder.

For those that don’t know, Tough Mudder is a 20km SAS like course, with 20 obstacles and a whole lot of mud along the way, just to make it a little more challenging.

Yes you could say I’m a little crazy but I was really up for the challenge.

The thought of doing Tough Mudder really frightened me, particularly the obstacles that required going through water and electric wires.

My friends and I registered about 9 months before the event date and not a week went by that I didn’t think about calling to tell them I was pulling out of the race. The fear of what was ahead made my stomach drop every few days!

But, I knew if I didn’t show up to take on the challenge I would be disappointed in myself for the rest of my life.

So finally, the big day was here.

I have never seen so much mud in my life! It was actually quite fun to get that muddy. At least now I know what it would be like to do mud wrestling!

But I digress. Most of the obstacles were not too difficult.

I’m not afraid of heights so I guess that made the climbing obstacles easier.

At about the 12 km mark I was thinking to myself, how much fun Tough Mudder was and how I might do it again next year.

Enter The Electric Eel!

This obstacle required you to commando crawl through muddy water under electric wires that gave a 10,000-volt zap every 3 seconds.

THIS is the obstacle that I feared the most.

I have never touched an electric fence, have you? In Australia, there a a lot of electric fences on our farms and I knew there was a reason I steered clear.

But alas, I was here now, in front of the obstacle with 2 of my friends who were willing to tackle it!

As you can see I hesitated at the start but I threw myself into the challenge, put my head down and went.

The first half was fine and them BOOM! I get zapped, dead in my tracks.

Now if it hadn’t been for the marshal on the side who said to me keep going, I would have let my fear overcome me and would have got stuck there.

When I heard her words, I mustered every ounce of courage in me and I kept going. Kindly, there were another 4 zaps to come, but I made it through.
